Torres Del Paine

Sure to be one of the highlights of any trip to Patagonia, Torres del Paine delivered in every category:
Best Backdrop for a Waterfall.
Best Evil Lair.
Best Use Of A Cold Coca Light.
(Falling just short in the category: Best Use Of Accurate Trail Markers)

Our main goal was to hike to the Mirador Torres, which according to my book was the most popular hike. Now in the states most popular hike is synonymous with easiest hike, but in hard core Chile this is not the case. We hiked straight up a mountain for about 2 hours. Caught our breath, forded streams for another hour then camped at the base of another hour long scramble up a rocky cliff. But the view of the evil pointy torres looming over the milky aqua lagoon was well worth the aching legs.

After another three hour hike back down the mountain reminded me that 10 years of cross country and track had decimated the cartilage in my knees, I was happy to sit down with a cold Coca Light and stick my tongue out at the mountain. Ha!

(Coke if you want to use my photo as a billboard, feel free to send me an e-mail.)
