DAY 1
Arrival Chennai – Transfer to Mahabalipuram

Arrive at Chennai International Airport and meet your representative.

Drive south along the scenic East Coast Road to Mahabalipuram (Approx. 60 km / 1.5–2 hours).

Check in at your hotel and enjoy the coastal ambiance.

A UNESCO World Heritage coastal town, Mahabalipuram is famous for its Pallava-era rock-cut temples, Shore Temple, Pancha Rathas, Arjuna’s Penance, Krishna’s Butterball, and cave shrines, reflecting ancient stone-carving artistry along scenic Bay of Bengal shores.

DAY 2
Mahabalipuram – Sri Aurobindo Ashram – Pondicherry

After breakfast, explore Mahabalipuram’s UNESCO monuments, including Shore Temple, Pancha Rathas, Arjuna’s Penance, Krishna’s Butterball, and rock-cut cave temples.

Drive to Pondicherry via Sri Aurobindo Ashram (Approx. 100 km total / 3–3.5 hours including stop).

Pondicherry blends French colonial charm, serene promenades, and vibrant café culture. The Sri Aurobindo Ashram offers a tranquil spiritual retreat, meditation spaces, and insight into integral yoga philosophy amidst peaceful, contemplative surroundings.

Evening free for a peaceful stroll along Promenade Beach or café hopping in the French Quarter.

Overnight: Pondicherry

DAY 3
Pondicherry – Chidambaram – Kumbakonam – Tanjore

After breakfast, drive to Tanjore via Chidambaram (approx. 65 km from Pondicherry) to visit the Nataraja Temple, an exquisite example of Chola architecture and spiritual significance.
Continue to Kumbakonam (approx. 100 km from Chidambaram) and explore some famous temples of this temple town.

Chidambaram
Home to the famed Nataraja Temple, Chidambaram is a spiritual hub of Chola architecture. Renowned for its magnificent carvings, sacred halls, and the cosmic dance of Lord Shiva, it remains an important center of devotion and pilgrimage.

Kumbakonam
Known as the “Temple Town,” Kumbakonam boasts numerous intricately carved temples, traditional rituals, and bustling streets. Highlights include Adi Kumbeswarar Temple and other sacred shrines reflecting Chola artistry, religious fervor, and vibrant cultural life.

Drive onwards to Tanjore (approx. 40 km from Kumbakonam) and check in at your hotel.

Tanjore is famed for its Brihadeeswarar Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and Tanjore Palace. The city showcases grand Chola architecture, intricate bronze sculptures, and a rich cultural legacy of art, music, and devotion.

DAY 4
Tanjore – Trichy – Madurai

After breakfast, visit Brihadeeswarar Temple (UNESCO site) and Tanjore Palace.

Drive to Madurai via Trichy (Approx. 190 km / 4–5 hours including stop).

Trichy, dominated by the dramatic Rock Fort Temple, offers panoramic city views from its hilltop perch. The historic fort complex features ancient temples, intricate carvings, and a blend of spiritual and architectural heritage in central Tamil Nadu.

Continue to Madurai and check in at your hotel.

Evening free to explore Meenakshi Amman Temple or local markets. 

Madurai, one of Tamil Nadu’s oldest cities, centers around the Meenakshi Amman Temple, an architectural marvel with towering gopurams, ornate sculptures, and vibrant rituals, reflecting centuries of Dravidian culture, devotion, and temple-centered city life.

Madurai – Departure

After breakfast, check out and transfer to Madurai Airport for your onward flight.
