And the pace?
Sounds like
Every Wanderess journey is built around
You time.
Enough planned that the day is worth getting up for. Enough space left over that you can disappear with a book and nobody minds.
Most women book alone
Come solo, find your tribe.
Most women on a Wanderess journey book alone. It is the ordinary case, not the brave one, and here is exactly how it works, so there is nothing left to be nervous about.
You are not alone from the moment you leave
Your host is on the same flight out and the same flight back. The first person you see at check-in is the one hosting the journey.
You choose your room
A room to yourself for , or share with another solo traveller. The questionnaire asks what decides that: sleep, air conditioning, snoring, tidiness.
You will know names before you land
The departure group opens well before you fly. By the time you reach the airport you have been talking for weeks.
Nothing is compulsory
Skip the yoga, skip the shopping, have dinner on your balcony. Stepping out for an afternoon needs no explanation.
You will know the shape of the group
How many are coming, roughly what ages, how many are travelling solo, all before your balance is due.
Women only, no exceptions
It is what makes the first evening easy and the last one hard to leave.
Travelling with you
YOUR HOST
Personally hosted by Sunayana
Your host doesn't just meet you there; she travels with you from the very first flight.
"Travel is much more than a destination. It is the people we meet, the food we discover, the conversations we have, and what we bring home from them."
Wanderess began with a simple thought: many women want to travel but are waiting for the right company. So we created it.
Every journey is curated personally, then operated by Travel Enabler and its local partners in each country, the people who know the roads, the hotels, and who to call at nine on a Sunday night. She hosts. They run the machinery.
In their words
From women who came.
Two more ways in
Not everyone books for herself.
Give a journey
Daughters gift it to their mothers. Sisters gift it to each other. A Wanderess voucher can cover the entire journey or part of it, and she can choose where and when she wishes to travel. If a departure is still being planned, the voucher remains valid. Simply tell us who it is for, and we will take care of the rest.
Bring someone along
Many women join us with a friend, a sister, or someone special. If she books and mentions your name, there is a little something for both of you. Ask us about the offer for your chosen departure. And when you share a room, there is no single supplement.
If a departure is full, ask for the waiting list. Places do open, and you will be told first when the next journey opens.
Asked, honestly answered
What women ask before they say yes.
I do not know anyone. Will it be awkward?
For about an hour. Most of the group is in exactly the same position, the first dinner exists for precisely this reason, and by day two the seating has sorted itself out.
Will the Wanderess host really travel with us?
Yes, on the same flight out and the same flight back. Not a coordinator who meets the group at the hotel.
Do I have to share a room?
No. A room to yourself costs . If you would rather share, we match you with another solo traveller and tell you who before anything is confirmed.
What does it cost?
It depends on your room and your flights, so we quote it rather than publish a headline number. Here is exactly what is included.
What is the age range?
Broadly thirties to sixties, and it varies by journey. We will tell you the actual mix of your departure before your balance is due.
Is it safe?
You are never alone in an unfamiliar place unless you choose to be. Your host flies out and back with the group; add vetted hotels, group transport, and Travel Enabler's operations desk behind her, plus a number your family at home can call.
How much walking is there?
Easy. Galle Fort has cobbles and the Colombo day is on foot. Nothing that needs training, and if you have a knee or a pace to consider we plan around it.
I am vegetarian, or I have an allergy.
Tell us on the questionnaire and it is handled at every meal. Vegetarian and Jain food is normal for us, not a special request.
Will I be dragged to things I do not want to do?
No. Apart from arrival and departure, everything is optional.
Can I bring my sister, my mother or a friend?
Yes, and many do. Women only, and that part does not move.
How do the 2027 journeys work?
Each opens when its hotels, dates and price are confirmed. Register interest in the one you want and you will be told before it goes public.
What happens after I register?
Your host replies personally, usually the same day, with the price, what it covers and the deposit. Nothing on this site charges you anything.

Send it to the friend you are about to persuade.

Coming on your own? Most women do. here is how that works.
Before you go
The things nobody likes to ask.
A full pre-departure note goes out with the questionnaire. This is the short version, so you can stop wondering.

Warm and coastal, around the high twenties. Evenings are mild. Rain is possible and brief.
Easy daytime clothes, and something you like for the farewell dinner. Shoulders and knees covered at temples, and a scarf handles it.
Sri Lankan rupees. Cards work in hotels and larger shops; carry some cash for markets and tips.
Three-pin sockets, 230V, so bring a universal adaptor. We will advise on a local SIM or roaming before you leave.

Wanderess prices are quoted per person rather than published as a headline number, because what you pay depends on your room, your flights and when you book. Ask, and the whole number comes to you in writing, never a small one with footnotes.

The traveller questionnaire.
Five minutes, mostly tapping. It does two jobs: it tells us how to look after you, and, if you are sharing, it lets your host put you with someone you will actually get on with. Only she sees your answers.
